Summer Suncatchers!

Today we made sun catchers with summer themes! There were seashells, surfers, suns, boats and more! They are now all proudly hung in the sun room for all see!

Beautiful Day!

What a beautiful summer day! We went out to the Flushing river walk trail and enjoyed a cold treat in the shade, it was the perfect day to be outside!

Rummage/Bake Sale 2012!

The Rummage/Bake sale was a success! We made a record amount this year, with a grand total of $524.02!! But most importantly, we had a great time and great weather. It was nice to hang out outside on these beautiful days! The proceeds from the sale is going towards an outing to Frankenmuth! Each residents will choose if they would like to go to Zehnders or the Bavarian Inn for a famous chicken dinner! After dinner, they will be shopping at the River Place shopping center in Frankenmuth! Thanks to all that helped out with the sale this year!

Italian Night!

Tonight we had a themed dinner night, Italian night! The dining room was decorated like an Italian restaurant with checkered tablecloths, battery operated candles with dim light, after dinner mints and place mats of Italy! We tried a new recipe, mosticolli, and it was voted a keeper!

Honor Choir Visit!

Today the Swartz Creek Honors Choir (4th, 5th and 6th grade) came out to give the residents a singing performance. They did a great job! The residents sang along and loved watching the kids perform. Thanks so much for coming out, you all did a great job!!

Smore's Cookie Bars!

We tried out a new dessert today, Smore's Cookie Bars! YUM! We thought it was the perfect snack for the start of Memorial Day weekend. Check out the recipe here: http://www.lovintheoven.com/2008/12/day-11-smores-cookie-bars.html . 

 Donnie loved smashing up the graham crackers. We passed them around, it was everyone's favorite part!

Randy and David stopped by the bowling alley today to play some games. Who knew we had a couple of bowling pros in the house? :)

Balloon Launch!

Today we did the Balloon Launch! This is a fun activity we do every year. We include a note in the balloons from each resident and if a lucky person finds it, they send us a letter! One balloon traveled 20 miles! We have gotten several letters throughout the years and it's been fun reading the responses! We'll see how far they go this year!

Coney Day!

What a beautiful day! Today we BBQ'ed outside for lunch and Bill the maintenance man cooked up some coneys for us! He brought in Koegels and coney sauce and everyone loved it! Thanks Bill!
